Ficca Named C.E.O. of Baltimore Life

OWINGS MILLS, MD, NOVEMBER 12, 2009—The Baltimore Life Companies’ Board of Directors announced today that David K. Ficca, currently the company’s President, has been elected as Baltimore Life’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1.

 

L. John Pearson, formerly Chairman and C.E.O., will remain active in his role as Chairman.

 

Mr. Ficca joined Baltimore Life in 2002 as the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He brought more than 17 years of public accounting experience to his position with Baltimore Life, with 13 of those years dedicated to the insurance industry. In May 2009, he was named Baltimore Life’s 11th President.

 

“Our transition in leadership is part of an orderly succession process planned by our board,” said John Pearson. “Mr. Ficca continues to be an integral part of our success, and is uniquely qualified to help guide the company and its associates in our strategy for profitable growth in the middle markets we serve throughout the United States.”

 

Mr. Ficca and his wife Meredith reside in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with their four sons DJ, Matthew, Michael and Christian.
