Baltimore Life Employees Refurbish York YMCA Kid’s Club
For Immediate Release
YORK, MD, SEPTEMBER 8, 2008—The Baltimore Life Companies recently teamed up with The United Way of York County and the YMCA of York to improve a space dedicated to area children.
On September 4, Baltimore Life employees from the York area worked to refurbish the Kid’s Club, an area of the YMCA’s downtown York branch devoted to children. The Kid’s Club area is used for before- and after-school care, homework and summer camp activities.
The crew from Baltimore Life included employees from the Owings Mills, Md. home office location who live in the York area, as well as agents from the company’s York office. The group painted the large activity area, the reception area and the bathroom. Rachael Orwick, director of the YWCA Kid’s Club, said, “This is great! I have so many ideas for this space.”
Sean O’Connor, assistant manager of Baltimore Life’s York office, hopes that the YMCA applies for Baltimore Life’s grant program. This program provides $500 grants to local non-profit agencies. “An extra $500 could be used to add more life to the project,” he said.
Each year, Baltimore Life joins the United Way to participate in the “Day of Caring” in the Baltimore area. This year, the company is participating in United Way activities in new areas in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
