Baltimore Life Hosts Meeting of Environmental Group

For Immediate Release

OWINGS MILLS, MD, JULY 1, 2005—The Baltimore Life Insurance Company hosted the June 30 inaugural meeting of an alliance of groups aimed at reevaluating development regulations within the Chesapeake Watershed. This alliance includes the Baltimore County government, the Center for Watershed Protection, the Home Builders Association of Maryland, and the Alliance for the Chesapeake. The ultimate goal of the alliance is to better coordinate regulations in order to more effectively protect one of the region's greatest natural resources, the Chesapeake Bay.

"Baltimore Life was an appropriate place to hold the inaugural meeting of the alliance because we have been recognized for our environmental efforts in tree preservation when we built our Home Office in 1992," said L. John Pearson, Chairman, President, and CEO of the company. "We are proud to have received the White Oak Award for Excellence in Forest Conservation from the Maryland Dept of Natural Resources-Forest Service and the Global Relief Award from American Forests and National Association of Home Builders. We support the alliance's goal of protecting the Chesapeake Watershed."
