News Releases The Baltimore Life Insurance Company Qualifies for Renewed Membership in IMSA, Ethical Standards Setting Organization For Immediate Release OWINGS MILLS, MD, APRIL 20, 2004Baltimore Life has qualified to renew membership in the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA), the national organization dedicated to promoting high ethical standards in the marketing, selling and servicing of individually sold life insurance, annuities and long-term care insurance. IMSA Executive Director Brian Atchinson announced last month in a listing of several companies that Baltimore Life had successfully completed a rigorous, independent review of their marketing, sales and compliance practices, required every three years to continue to qualify for membership in IMSA. Atchinson congratulated all of the qualifying companies "for renewing their commitment to meet the high ethical standards required of IMSA members, for ensuring quality business practices that safeguard the consumer, and for continuing to treat customers fairly and honestly. "Baltimore Life has demonstrated its continuing dedication to its customers through its IMSA qualification," added Atchinson. "The IMSA seal is a tangible symbol of excellence and integrity within the life insurance industry." "We see our IMSA membership as a continuation of the way Baltimore Life has done business for over 120 years, with integrity and respect for each individual." said Ed Hughes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Baltimore Life. "We believe efforts including Baltimore Life's ethical 'pledge to consumers' and other polices and procedures related to the replacement compliance and the conservation process are among the best in the industry. IMSA qualification affirms our best practices activities." IMSA is a voluntary, non-profit organization created in 1996 to strengthen consumer trust and confidence in the life insurance industry. IMSA member companies represent nearly 60 percent overall market share for individually sold life insurance, long-term care insurance, and annuity products. IMSA's seal is considered a mark of excellence within the insurance industry and a guidepost for consumers. The IMSA website is www.IMSAethics.org. Founded in 1882, Baltimore Life is one of the oldest life insurance
companies in America. Baltimore Life is licensed in 49 states and the
