News Releases Pinkard Joins Baltimore Life Board of Directors For Immediate Release OWINGS MILLS, MD, MARCH 14, 2002The Baltimore Life Companies has appointed Walter D. "Wally" Pinkard, Jr. to its board of directors. Born and raised in Baltimore, Pinkard is president and chief executive officer of the Baltimore-based commercial and industrial real estate firm, Colliers Pinkard, with offices in Baltimore, Charlotte and Raleigh. He also serves as chairman of the International Governing Committee of the worldwide Colliers International real estate organization, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Brown Investment Advisory & Trust Co., headquartered in Baltimore. "There is no one more committed to Baltimore's business and civic communities than Wally Pinkard," said L. John Pearson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of The Baltimore Life Companies. "We are thrilled to have him join our board of directors." Active in civic affairs, Pinkard chairs both the board of the Baltimore Community Foundation and the board of advisors of The Johns Hopkins Nursing School and is vice-chair and treasurer of the Greater Baltimore Alliance. A past co-chair of the Safe & Sound Campaign, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded initiative to improve the health and welfare of Baltimore's children, Pinkard still serves on that organization's executive committee. He also serves on the board and executive committee of Johns Hopkins University and on the boards of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education. He is also involved with two locally headquartered foundations - the France-Merrick Foundation (where he is vice-president) and the Stulman Foundation (where he is secretary). He is a past trustee or director of the Maryland Zoological Society, the Maryland Institute College of Art, Gilman School, Calvert School, the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Washington/Baltimore Regional Association. A graduate of Yale University, with an MBA from Harvard, Pinkard holds the distinction of Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) from the American Society of Real Estate Counselors.
