"David not only knows the insurance industry, he already knows Baltimore Life from his auditing work with us," said L. John Pearson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of The Baltimore Life Companies. "We are thrilled to have him join our company."

Ficca spent the first eight years of his career in PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) New York City office, where his clients included Mutual of New York, Nippon Life Insurance Company and local subsidiaries of Mutual of Omaha and Leucadia Corporation.

Prior to joining Baltimore Life, Ficca served as a partner in PwC's insurance industry group in Washington, D.C. His audit clients included Baltimore Life, AIG's international life insurance business, GEICO Corporation, The Acacia Group, Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund, Avemco Insurance Company, Reciprocal of America, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program. Ficca also was the project manager for the annual survey of all U.S. life insurers conducted by the National Association of Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Associations for the purpose of determining annual assessments made by state guaranty funds.

From 1996 to 1998 he completed a two-year rotation as PwC's nominated practice fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), where his main focus was the coordination of the Emerging Issues Task Force process and the review of all American Institute of Certified Public Accountants insurance related documents on behalf of the board.

Ficca earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Georgetown University and is currently an adjunct professor of auditing at Georgetown.

He and his wife Meredith are on the board of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of Cure Autism Now (CAN).
