L. John Pearson joined The Baltimore Life Companies in 1995, after having served as president of Utica National Life Insurance Company in New Hartford, New York. Mr. Pearson began his life insurance career with Security-Connecticut and Phoenix Mutual in the 1970s.

Mr. Pearson currently serves on the boards of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), the Life Insurers Council (LIC), and the Forum 500 of the American Council of Life Insurers. He also has chaired the board of the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) and served on the boards of the Life Office Management Association (LOMA) and the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association (LIMRA).

A native of Easton, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Mr. Pearson now resides in the Greater Baltimore area, where he is involved in a variety of community organizations. He currently serves on the boards of the United Way and the YMCA of Central Maryland, and is chairman of the Junior Achievement Executive Council. He has served on the board of the Boy Scouts of America, Northeast Region, as well as that of the local Baltimore Area Council, including three terms as chair.

Mr. Pearson is currently chairman of the board of the Owings Mills Corporate Roundtable—which addresses business issues impacting Baltimore Life’s home office community, and serves on the board of the Greater Baltimore Committee. He also chairs the Dickinson College Regional Cabinet and serves on the Baltimore County Executive's Advisory Board on Higher Education.
